Thousands of years ago, a volcano eruption left a gigantic crater lake – Lake Toba.
It is the biggest Crater Lake in the world located around 50 miles south of Medan. It is surrounded by a rich, green, hilly landscape.
On the peninsula of Samosir you can find many accommodations with a direct view of the lake. The region is famous for its Toba-Batak-Culture. Thus, visiting the traditional houses and historical sites are a must.
